From Alan Trimble
Hello everyone,
Samples from this morning indicate that Pacific Oyster larvae
are beginning to set throughout the Bay. Larval counts are
slowly dropping as the larvae grow – much more quickly than
cohorts of recent years.
Here are the counts from samples during the 5:30AM high water:
(counts per 20 gal, sizes in microns)
Site Low count High Count Smallest Largest
Mill Channel 6 13 210 300
Peterson Stn 2 9 210 290
Smokey Hollow 6 7 210 290
Bear River 9 21 210 310
Lewis Slough 60 84 230 290
Cougar Bend 5 36 180 290
Long Isl Sl 15 40 250 280
Naselle River 0 1 210 210
We hope all these setting size larvae are finding the new
shell being put out as fast as it lands on the bottom.
Regards,
Alan
